އެކި ހިސާބުތަކުން ދޫނިތައް ހިޖުރަކުރަމުން އަންނަ ރާއްޖޭން އަނެއްކާ ވެސް ކުރިން ނުފެންނަ ވައްތަރުގެ ދޫންޏެއް ފެނިއްޖެ އެވެ.
އެންވަޔަރަމަންޓް ޕްރޮޓެކްޝަން އޭޖެންސީ އީޕީއޭ) އިން ބުނީ ރާއްޖޭން އަލަށް ފެނިފައި ވަނީ އާންމުކޮށް ޔޫރަޕާއި އުތުރު އެފްރިކާގެ އިތުރުން މެދުއިރުމަތިން ފެންނަ އާންމު ދޫންޏެއް ކަމަށްވާ "ވައިޓް ސްޓޯކް" ކަމަށެވެ. މި ދޫނި ވަރަށް ވަރަށް މަދުން ފިނި މޫސުމުގައި އިންޑިއާ އާއި ސްރީ ލަންކާ އިން ވެސް ފެނެ އެވެ.
On 20th February 2022, a White Stork (Ciconia ciconia) was sighted in L. Hithadhoo.
This is possibly the first recorded sighting of this species in the Maldives. The white stork is rarely seen in South India during the winter and vagrantly sighted in Sri Lanka as well.📷 Moosa pic.twitter.com/gYiCIK1LEk

ރާއްޖޭން "ވައިޓ ސްޓޯކް" އެއް ފެނުނީ މި އަހަރުގެ ފެބްރުއަރީ މަހުގެ 20 ގައި ލ. ހިތަދޫންނެވެ. އަދި މިއީ ބާވަތުގެ ދޫންޏެއް ރާއްޖޭން ފެނުނު ކަމަށް ރެކޯޑްކުރެވުނު ފުރަތަމަ ފަހަރު ވެސް މެ އެވެ.
The white stork is a well known bird with populations found throughout Europe, North Africa & the Middle East. The stork populations have now decreased from what it used to be, with large populations now mainly found in Spain and Poland, in addition to the Baltic region.

މާކަނައާ ވައްތަރު ގޮތަކަށް "ވައިޓް ސްޓޯކް" ގެ ހަށިގަނޑުގެ ބޮޑުބައިގައި ހުންނަނީ ހުދު ކުލަ އެވެ. އަދި ފިޔަގަނޑުގައި ކަޅުކުލަހުރެ އެވެ. އަދި ދިގުކޮށް އިންނަ ތުންގަނޑާއި ފައިގައި ހުންނަނީ ގަދަ އޮރެންޖް ކުލައެކެވެ.
These birds feed mainly on small mammals, frogs and large insects such as grasshopper, but they also eat small reptiles, fish and eggs and chicks of other ground nesting birds. They inhabit open wetlands, savannas, steppes, meadows and agricultural fields.
